
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick on Thursday appealed to the Kwara state Governor to immortalize late Super Eagles striker and Legend, Rashidi Yekini.
The appeal came during the commissioning of the new Secretariat of the Kwara Football Association that was named after the pioneer Chairman of the Association.
Rashidi Yekini who died on May 4, 2012 in Ibadan was born on October 23, 1963 in Kaduna and of Irra descent in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria between 1984 and 1998 with 37goals to his credit (The highest of any Nigerian in the Green and White jersey) in 58 games.
Yekini is well known for his iconic goal celebration after scoring Nigeria’s first ever goal in the FIFA World Cup.
