It is a scintillating weekend and a beautiful resumption in the English premier league. Arsenal cruise their way through the ocean of Fulham in the opening game, the gunners shipped in three maximum goals on Saturday to silent the agitations of the Cottagers. While the EPL defending champions, the Merseyside Reds were in the battle of divisional Champion with Leeds United, the EFL champions when they fought tooth and nail to impose a three points strike on the very vocal Leeds team; the game ended 4:3 and saw Mo’Salah getting a hat trick, becoming the first Liverpool player to net a hat-trick on opening day since John Aldridge in 1988. I hope it is a season to see him basking in that excitement and banging the goals.
On Sunday, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham hosted Carlo Ancelloti’s newly forged Everton and the Merseyside blues came out on top with Calvert Lewin scoring in 55th minute. A tough one for Jose’s team has they will now look to rebuilding in the coming weeks. Before that game Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City brilliantly marshaled by our own Wilfred Ndidi trampled upon a weak West Brom team lashing in 3 goals to get an easy 3 points.
The rest of the games came on Monday night when Wolves defeated Sheffield United in the first match of the day and Chelsea too getting a 3:1 victory against their Brighton counterparts. A postponement to the two Manchester teams due to their involvement in the UEFA tourney semifinals; did not make us see them in action this week but we have our fingers crossed and keep our excitement towards the continuation of the league next week. It is going to be a very long season and I am very happy to bring to you all the reports as it unfolds.
