This weekend in the Premier League, So many goals flew in, it is an evidentiary proof that the league is going to be a battle of titans this season. Although, it is still too early to absolutely say for sure which team will turn out at the top of the table eventually but it will be exciting to see all the figures and strides players and teams will be looking to put out having spent big on quality, skill and experiences; with the recruitment of some great signings. Everton FC are an example of that; with a great coach, the former Chelsea, Bayern Munich, AC Milan gaffer: a veteran and also a vast number of experienced and great players too talking of James Rodriguez, Doucoure etc. We can’t rue them out of the Top 8 now, if they can proceed to win their next 10games. The Toffees defeated Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham in the first week and they didn’t back down from that euphoria as they went flying high with a flamboyant 5:2 win over West Brom with new signing James Rodriguez on the scoresheet and Cavert Lewin getting a hat trick which now puts him in four goals this new season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United, a team with talents and potential coupled with a veteran gaffer too, they put up an exciting show at Anfield on the first match day but had their first win over just promoted side Fulham.
It is now two straight wins for the gunners who fought with ambition and resilience to take away all the 3 points from West Ham who came back with an equalizer but a beautiful team work leading to a late goal from Nketiah has once again proving that Mikel Arteta’s men are changing the narrative and also showing competition what they are made of. It is indeed a good time at the Emirates. But it is the other way round for Manchester United who are just kicking off their campaign, debutant Donny Van Beek scored one but were completely nullified by Crystal Palace, with former player Wilfried Zaha having a great game all through and getting on the scoresheet twice and a goal from Townsend from early in the game made it a 3:1 defeat to sloppy Red Devils. The reverse is the case with Tottenham, they turned around from week one defeat and went all out rampage on the Saints, dominating and scoring five goals with Southampton managing to get just two; Son grabbed an hat trick in the match, it will maybe be a nice day in the Spurs dressing room having announced the return of Gareth Bale and signing of full back Sergio Reguillon both from Real Madrid.
Things then went sour for Chelsea FC on Sunday at Stamford Bridge in their fixture with the defending champions; Liverpool FC who showed the blues what it really meant to be champions by stamping a two nil win over Londoners after Andrea Christensen was red carded for violating Sadio Mane who went on to become scorer of the two goals that annihilate the resistant blues after a defensive first half. Not a very ideal game for Lampard’s boys having spent big in the summer transfer but only two of the new signings were able to play. Although, The reds new signing from Bayern Munich Thiago Alcantara made it to substitution at half time and went on to show force and dominance in the midfield creating a record of passes for substitutes in the English league. We say a very big Welcome to Thiago!
In conclusion of this goal mounted match week, Man City unlike their Manchester sibling reverses the score line in their favour, they were away at Wolves but that didn’t make excuse enough to them as they shipped in three handful of goals. As it stands Leicester City sits comfortably at the top of the table with two wins in two followed closely by Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal. Let’s look forward to next week if there is going to a change to that till then
