Kwara govt warns residents against tree felling

The Kwara State Government says it will punish anyone caught associated with indiscriminate felling of trees in the state.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Mrs Funke Julianah Oyedun made this known during a meeting with Area Forest Officers held on Wednesday, in Ilorin, the state capital.
The commissioner charged the officers to be diligent at work for effective results.
She implored them to keep watch over the trees left in the forest and penalize any law breakers caught cutting trees which could endanger human live and the eco-system.
Oyedun stated, “These trees have served a lot of protection for us, let us guide it jealously because this administration wants to see our work been done with effectiveness for a greater output.”
