The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has been declared  the winner of the election held in the state on Saturday.

The Chief Returning Officer, Prof Idowu Olayinka declared Akeredolu the winner of the poll.

Akeredolu, who is also the incumbent governor was declared the winner of the poll having polled  a total number of 292,830 votes to beat other contestants in the race.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the poll, Eyitayo Jegede, came second with a total number of 195,791 votes while the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, who is also the governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party came a distant third with  69,127 votes from the 18 local government areas of the state.

Olayinka  said, ” Having satisfied the requirements of the law and  scored the highest number of votes cast, I hereby declare Okiwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN the winner  and he is hereby returned elected. “
