The surprise nuptials come after John’s nasty split from ex-fiancée Nikki Bella.
TMZ confirmed the wedding news on Wednesday after obtaining official records.
They claim the couple tied the knot in Tampa, Florida, on the quiet on October 12.
John, 43, and Shay, 31, began dating in early 2019 following the former wrestler’s split from Nikki.
The pair reportedly had a low profile engagement and filed for a marriage certificate in Florida earlier this month.
According to official documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the newlyweds tied the knot on October 12 during a ceremony in Tampa.
John and Shay met on the set of Playing With Fire in British Columbia.
They made their relationship red carpet official as they held hands in front of cameras at the Playing With Fire premiere in October 2019.
Shay has since acted as John’s date to his work events and they even kissed on the red carpet at the Dolittle premiere.
This is the actor’s second marriage, as he was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009 to 2012.
John dated Nikki for about six years before they eventually called it off their engagement in May 2018 due to their differing opinions on wanting kids.
While John doesn’t want to have children, the 36-year-old Total Bellas star was determined to have kids of her own.
The pair briefly reconciled for two months before officially calling it quits in October 2018.
Following her split from John, Nikki announced her engagement to her former Dancing With the Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev in January 2020.
The WWE star gave birth to their son, Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev, on July 31, 2020.
Her twin sister, Brie, was pregnant with her second child at the same time as Nikki.
Nikki spoke about her decision to end her relationship with John while appearing on Maria Menounos’s YouTube show Better Together in May.
The TV personality said: “Overall, we did have such an incredible relationship. It was just two people that wanted two different lives but were trying so hard to make it one.
“Even in the end when he was willing to give me kids, I could just tell, it’s not what he wanted.
“And that’s really, like, you know, what pushed me in the end, I was like, ‘Am I’m going to force someone to be a father?’
“What if he looks at you down the road and just regrets everything, and then you have this child and you’ve built this life.
“Is that what you want? And I remember thinking, ‘it’s not what I want.'”
