The hope of an invincible season ended this season very early, now we can all go to the past and appraise the unit of the Arsenal 2004 invincible team as the one and only one who’s done that.
Every team in the English premier league have have all dropped point, Aston Villa that seem to be the only team with a 100% stat was defeated by Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United. Patrick Bamford was on fire in that game banging a hattrick, the former Chelsea striker now has 6 goals in 6 appearances. Fewer than he managed in his last 10 appearance in the EPL.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton didn’t seem to get it right this week, they were subdued and incapacitated by the blistering pace Saints whom followed last week draw with Chelsea with a win over the Toffees. The Merseysiders seem to be in the shadow of their usual self, they survived with just 2 attempts in contrast to 6 from the Southampton team. This has raised eyebrows on the form and consistency of the Toffees, a question only time can answer.
Manchester City and it’s neighborhood twin Manchester United both survived with a draw. City were held by David Moyes’ Westham United. A very early goal from the enigmatic Mikhail Antonio was cancelled out by Phil Foden who came in as an halftime sub for the Manchester outfit. Pep Guardiola’s side have not lived up to expectations since the start of the season despite making key defensive recruitments in the summer.
The defending champions; Liverpool FC went fearless and fought tooth and nail to ensure a win against Sheffield United, while every other team are dropping points, the champions are stacking up; this are acts that proves eventual ends for winning the title.
Jamie Vardy showed class as always against the gunners when he gunned in a diving header into the net to earn Leicester city FC a 1:0 win against Arsenal. The goals puts Vardy at 11goals in 12games against the gunners directly behind Didier Drogba’s record of 13goals against the gunners.
Home sweet home is what comes to mind when the strikers play Arsenal FC. 😂
