Good day and welcome to the English Premier league week 12 review.
This match week, West Ham United started with an away face off with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United. Leed’s Mateusz Klich converted a twice-taken sixth-minute penalty, VAR ordered the retake after keeper Lukasz Fabianski had stepped off his goalline. An incident that made West Ham boss David Moyes say the video assistant referee is making “terrible decisions” in the Premier League. Fortunately, the visitors – levelled when Illan Meslier failed to stop Tomas Soucek’s soft header and took all the points away with 10 minutes to go through Angelo Ogbonna’s header.
Chelsea’s second defeat of the season came on the way at Goodison Park, Everton’s home ground. Chelsea were denied the chance to go top and fell to fifth on the table. Frank Lampard said the defeat shows a the reality to those who say his side can win the league. And from Merseyside we will be having a look the Manchester derby game, Phil McNulty described it as a game devoid of quality and excitement. Both was not exciting nor created spectacular chances to win. The draw led United eighth in the Premier League and City a place below them.
James Maddison got a brace at the Kings Power Stadium as Leicester produced a terrific first-half display to beat Brighton and they climb to third in the Premier League.
Arsenal were jeered off by their own supporters after they were defeated by Premier League bottom side Burnley. The game saw Granit Xhaka dismissed for violent conduct. This meant Mikel Arteta’s side have now lost four straight league games at home for the first time in 61 years. Arsenal now sits idle at 15th on the table, twelve point below the league leaders -Tottenham and Liverpool.
Both Liverpool and Tottenham had a Frustrating weekend. Both drawing their fixtures. Jose Mourinho in a rather different dimension chose not to pick the blame card against Hugo Lloris whose mistake led to the game. The manager said; “We can look at it in two different perspectives. We had one more point than three hours ago but at the same time you play to win three points.
“If I look to the game, I would split the first half where the feeling is we have to win it, so we lost two points – but then comes 30 minutes in the second half where they deserved to get the equaliser and you accept it because it’s fair.
“Then, in the last 15 minutes we could have won it.”
Liverpool then missed out on their chance to top the Premier League and were lucky to take away a point from an impressive Fulham.
Southampton has now moved into the Premier League’s top four after beating bottom club Sheffield United.
That will be all for this week review, it is the December time which is always filled with exciting games and thrilling fixtures in the midweek and on the weekend. That will mean the review will comes up again in the next two days.
Have fun and make it start looking at Christmas
