An Ilorin magistrate court has ordered the remand of two pastors for allegedly brainwashing their congregation to disown their biological parents and also burn their certificates
They were charged before Magistrate I.A Dasuki for the offences of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, wrongful confinement, putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion contrary to sections 96, 100, 260 and 293, and the penal code law punishable under sections 97, 102, 260, and 293 of the penal code law of Nigeria.
The pastors, Olumide Peters and Jesulayomi Adetola of Evidence of Christ Fellowship International church, Agbo-Oba, Ilorin, reportedly kicked against Western Education claiming it’s a sin and any certificate acquired through it is evil.
Two five years old underage children, and four others which were reportedly abducted by the pastors were rescued from their custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The pastors were said to have been extorting money from international organization by sending recorded videos of the children claiming they’re victims of natural disasters and internally displace people.
Further investigation revealed that the pastors kicked against Western education, urging its congregation to see it as ungodly.
The NSCDC counsel, Barrister Ajide Kehinde, in his submission, prayed the court to remand the said pastors on the basis that one of them is still at large.
He said releasing the culprits on bail might affect jeopardize force effort to carry out proper investigation into the matter.
Magistrate I.A Dasuki, however, ceded to the prayer of the NSCDC counsel and the said pastors were remanded in Oke-Kura Correctional Service Centre, Ilorin, while the matter was adjourned to 28th of this month.
