DSS Speaks On Alleged Attempt To Arrest Sunday Igboho

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that its men attempted to arrest a self-acclaimed Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Earlier on Friday, some sections of the media reported that Sunday Igboho was accosted by a joint team of Nigerian soldiers, DSS and Policemen on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while on his way to see Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos State, Sout-Western part of Nigeria.

The report had claimed that the security agents attempted to arrest Sunday Igboho but were resisted by his supporters which reportedly led to commotions.

Reacting, the DSS tagged the report as fake, urging the general public to disregard it.

“The Department of State Services wishes to refute the news that it attempted to arrest one Sunday Igboho, today, at Ibadan, Oyo State. The said news is misinforming and should taken as fake and therefore be disregarded,” DSS said in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya.
