A non-partisan Non Governmental Organisation, Kwara Stakeholders Consultative Forum, has said the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is a major causal factor of under-development, unemployment and insecurity at the local government councils of the State.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by its Chairman, Comrade Bisi Fakayode, the forum condemned a press release purportedly issued by the State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, exonerating the Governor of “not stealing local government funds” as alleged by the national body of the Union.
The Forum alleged that Governor Abdulrazaq has been cornering the resources of the local councils, not at this is why he has continued to hold the councils in captivity since he assumed office in 2019.
“If truly Governor AbdulRazaq has not been touching LG funds as argued by a paid official of Kwara NULGE, he should publish details of the financial records of the councils as demanded by his former Commissioner for Special Duties, Aisha Ahman Pategi, who accused him of diverting LG funds,” the forum said.
It noted that NULGE in Kwara has been in crisis since the inception of the current administration, and therefore lacks the legitimacy of speaking for local government workers.
According to the forum, Kwara NULGE officials have not attended JAAC meetings for over 20 months out of 23 months of this admining just been reconstituted not up to three months ago.
The forum restated that it is not only an aberration for the Director of Personnel Management, DPM, now Transition Implementation Committee, TIC, to administer local governments but a gross violation of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It therefore asked Governor Abdulrazaq to conduct local government elections in line with the provisions of the Constitution.
