The member, Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ipokia/Idiroko State constituency, Otunba Bisi Oyedele was on the ground to welcome the Acting comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, CG Adewale Bashir Adeniyi who is visiting the Ogun Command I headquarters in Idiroko as part of his visit to all commands under his jurisdiction.

Citiside devised the occasion to register the concerns of his constituents about the acts of officers attached to the command and the unprofessional manner they go about their duties.

He echoed loudly alongside other stakeholders the hardship faced by the inhabitants of the constituency he is representing as a result of the border closure reform and especially, the restrictions of petroleum products to kilometres off border points. He pleaded with the CG to revisit all these and fix them so that legitimate business persons who are into import and export can start up again.

“If you look around you sir, you will notice that the economy of the constituency I am representing had crumbled and the reforms as laid by the NCS are affecting businessmen, farmers and artisans in going about their activities. On this note, I plead for the reforms to be revisited especially the restrictions which are no more needed because the primary aim has been defeated by the removal of subsidy” he emphatically stated.

In his response, the CG appreciated the Traditional rulers, stakeholders and indigenes of the Ipokia Local government for their continual support of the Service and promised to look into all issues raised and do something positive as soon as possible. He also reacted positively to a special request by Citiside to recruit a considerable number of indigenes of border communities into the service and stated categorically that such will begin from the next recruitment.
